As part of the Curriculum, all Year 5 2026 students will have the wonderful opportunity of participating in the LHC Immersive Music Program. This is a compulsory program and students are required to participate in after school ensemble rehearsals once a week.
In this program, students will learn through weekly group lessons, either a string or band instrument. These instruments will be provided by the College.
Students will gain instrument-specific knowledge and skills while exploring music elements and concepts such as duration, pitch, dynamics, and expression, all while demonstrating safe practices.
Students’ learning will be enhanced with weekly String Ensemble or Band rehearsals to prepare and perform repertoire for audiences. Small group lessons will take place during class time, while ensemble rehearsals will be held one afternoon each week after school.
We are holding a Parent and Caregiver information evening and student instrument trial session as follows:
Date: Tuesday 7 October 2025
Time: 6.00pm - 8.00pm
Where: Polding Theatre, Gate 1 Hawthorne Road
While students participate in instrument trials, you will be given an overview and the benefits of the LHC Immersive Music Program. You will also have the opportunity to hear from Dr Anita Collins, an award-winning educator, researcher and writer in the field of brain development and music learning.
