Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to 2025. It is wonderful to begin another exciting year here at Lourdes Hill College.
A special welcome to our new staff, staff taking on new roles, and new Year 5, 6, and 7 families who are joining us for the first time. We are delighted to welcome you to this significant new chapter in the history of Lourdes Hill College as we open our Junior School. Our Junior and Secondary spaces are ready and waiting for our students to fill them with learning and laughter. A reminder that our buildings have returned to their commissioned and blessed names, reflecting our tradition and the missions of the Good Samaritan Sisters. Please refer to the College Map linked to this edition for further details.
Our 2025 College theme is Sacred Paths. This theme reflects the journey each of us takes – a journey of faith, individual discovery, and connection as a community. Central to this theme is prayer, guiding us in spiritual growth, personal development, and deeper connection with one another, just as it did for St Bernadette, St Benedict, St Scholastica, and the Good Samaritan Sisters.
We congratulate the Lourdes Hill College Seniors, Class of 2024, on their exceptional results across a broad range of academic subjects, including ATAR pathways and Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, courage, and commitment, as well as the invaluable contributions they have made to the College. Thank you to our Parents, Caregivers, and Staff for their guidance, encouragement, and care. We look forward to celebrating their achievements, alongside our current students, at our Combined Semester 2 Academic and ATAR Awards Assembly on Thursday, 6 February.
The Principal Welcome Event on Friday, 14 March, is a wonderful opportunity for new and current Parents and Caregivers to come together and celebrate the start of the new year. It also provides a chance for new families to connect and get to know one another. For more information on this and other College events, please see the Events section.
As we begin a new year in our newly refurbished facilities, several updates will impact how the College operates from 2025. The main entrance is now via Virginia Avenue and includes Main Reception, Student Reception, Sick Bay, the Uniform Shop, and the entrance to the Student Mall. Drop-off for Junior School students is via Gate 3. Families should enter left from Hawthorne Road into Gate 3 and exit left via Gate 4 onto Virginia Avenue. Gate 1 will remain closed during the school day.
Years 7–12 students may use the drop-off zones on Hawthorne Road and Virginia Avenue. If collecting your daughter during school hours (9:00 am–2:30 pm), please use the new car park via Gate 3. Further details are outlined in the Parent Handbooks linked at the end of this newsletter. Emails from key College staff have also been sent to provide finer details for the beginning of the school year.
In 2025, we continue to enhance our Co-curricular programs with a wide range of offerings in Culture, Service, and Sport. These programs provide opportunities for students to explore their gifts, be challenged, and thrive both in and beyond the classroom. We look forward to seeing our students “thrive in 2025.”
Thank you for being part of the Lourdes Hill College family. I look forward to a year filled with growth, connection, and success for all in our community.
With kindness, peace and hope,
Mrs Kay Gleeson
Principal
