On Thursday 17 July, Lourdes Hill College proudly paused to honour the academic achievements of Semester 1, 2025. In a heartfelt and inspiring assembly, we celebrated the dedication, perseverance, and excellence shown by our award recipients. Academic success is more than assignments and memorisation—it’s about becoming a STAR learner: Skilful, Thoughtful, Agile, and Reflective.

Skillful Learners apply smart strategies to grow their understanding. They don’t just reread—they visualise, quiz themselves, and even teach others. With every step, they build a toolkit for deep, meaningful learning.

Thoughtful Learners think critically and creatively. They question purpose and audience, connect ideas, and dive deeper. When crafting a persuasive essay, they ask, “Who am I convincing?” and shape their writing accordingly.

Agile Learners embrace challenges and bounce back stronger. A disappointing maths result isn’t a setback—it’s an opportunity. They shift strategies, seek help, and keep going with resilience.

Reflective Learners don’t just move forward—they pause, assess, and grow. They use feedback wisely, improve their projects, and show accountability in all they do.

The assembly featured reflections from our academic leaders, led by 2025 Academic Captain Jessica Farley, who shared how this STAR mindset powered student success. We were also treated to an appearance from our beloved LHC mascot, “Bernie,” who brought energy, humour, and heart as he helped present the STAR Learning Behaviour Awards.

From inspirational speeches to cheerful moments, the assembly was a reminder that learning is a journey—and at Lourdes Hill, we are proud to walk it with STARs.

Congratulations to all award winners on their fine academic results, consistent high levels of academic achievement, effort, and dedication across the core classroom subjects areas of English, Mathematics, Religion, HASS and Science.
