As we approach the end of another vibrant and fulfilling year at Lourdes Hill College, we are delighted to celebrate the remarkable achievements, creativity, and compassion shown by our students across sport, the arts, and service. Their enthusiasm and commitment have made 2025 a year to remember.

Sporting Success Across the College

This year, more than 150 teams proudly represented the College across CaSSSA Seasons, Representative Tournaments and Club Competitions—a remarkable display of participation and school spirit.

  • 15 teams secured 1st place finishes
  • 22 teams achieved 2nd place, and
  • 14 teams celebrated 3rd place or semi-final appearances.

A special congratulations to our Junior A AFL Team, who capped off an excellent season by winning the CaSSSA Premiership.

Our sailing program also thrived, with 16 students from Years 5–7 completing the Learn to Sail Program at Brisbane Sailing Squadron, Bulimba. Meanwhile, our LHC White and Purple Sailing Fleet showcased their skills in both the Gold and Silver Divisions at the Interschools Sailing Teams Racing competition at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

On the basketball court, our Primary Basketball Team continues to show improvement and determination, currently sitting in 6th place heading into the final games of the season.

Outstanding Sports Excellence Achievement

We also congratulate Madelyn F on her exceptional international success in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Mady represented Australia at the 29th International Tournament Combs La Ville in Paris and the Gympies Gymnova Cup in Belgium. Against a world-class field of 38 gymnasts from 11 countries, Mady placed 8th All-Around in Paris, before securing Silver All-Around in Belgium and qualifying for Vault, Beam and Floor finals. This is an extraordinary achievement, and we are incredibly proud of her.

Service, Outreach, and Compassion in Action

This year, our students and staff have demonstrated extraordinary generosity and commitment to making a difference.

  • L’Arche welcomed new friends from Triple E Support Services for an afternoon of painting, dancing, cookie decorating and pizza—an event we hope to continue each term in 2026.
  • Following the successful HOPe Holiday Program, students created cards and collected gifts for visiting students from St Flannan’s and St Paul’s.
  • Vinnies and Mini Vinnies ran a hugely successful bake sale to support the annual Christmas Appeal for St Vincent de Paul, Bulimba.
  • STAR supported the community of Santa Teresa through their annual Crosses for Christmas drive.
  • Benenson House recognised White Ribbon Day by sharing white ribbons with students and displaying banners on Soubirous Place.
  • 60 Year 9 students took part in an Eat Up sandwich-making session, offering a hands-on introduction to Outreach ahead of entering Senior School.
  • Future Years 5 and 6 Junior School students donated toiletry items to support Micah Projects, while our Junior and Middle School students beautifully decorated 110 Christmas Hamper boxes for families in need.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every student and staff member who contributed time, compassion, and energy to our Service Groups this year. Your kindness has touched many lives.
