As we reach the end of a rewarding Term 4, it is a pleasure to reflect on the many experiences, achievements and celebrations that have filled our weeks in the Junior School. Our Year 5 and 6 students have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, teamwork and a growing sense of confidence as leaders of the primary years.
A highlight of the term has been our swimming program in HPE. Year 6 students demonstrated creativity and coordination as they explored synchronised swimming, while Year 5 developed valuable life saving skills that will serve them well beyond the pool. Year 5 also completed their leadership application process, with the 2026 Year 6 Student Council now appointed. It has been wonderful to see these emerging leaders engage in transition activities, including idea-sharing sessions with the current Year 6 Junior School Student Council.
The Junior School Performing Arts Evening was a true celebration of talent and dedication, with students shining across dance, drama, choir and ensemble performances. We also hosted our inaugural Grandparents Day which was a heart-warming occasion filled with classroom visits and performances in music, aerobics, dance and choir. It was a joy to welcome our extended community into our learning spaces.
Year 5 students extended their scientific thinking through an engaging Street Science incursion, linking hands-on experiments to their studies on states of matter. They also ventured to Queensland Parliament House and Old Government House, putting their knowledge of democracy into action. Year 6 experienced their Stella Day, giving them a taste of life as future Year 7 students. They have also celebrated the end of their primary schooling with a fun-filled Celebration Day which included a fun play in the pool, minute-to-win-it games, a talent context and a liturgy of thanks.
Throughout the term, our House Sister Lunch activities—featuring games in Stella and “Just Dance” sessions in the GSC—built connection and joy across the Year 5, 6, 8 and 9 cohorts. We also took time to acknowledge our dedicated teachers on World Teachers’ Day, celebrating their commitment to our students.
We concluded the term with our Year 6 Thanksgiving Celebration, Transition Ceremony and the Junior School Awards, recognising both the achievements and efforts of all students across the Junior School.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for a wonderful Term 4. We wish our Year 6s every success as they journey into Middle School and we look forward to welcoming our Year 5s back as the new leaders of the Junior School in 2026.
