Term 2 has been rich in opportunities for our young women: from reflecting on the Red Earth and Timor Leste immersion that took place over the break, preparing for the upcoming immersion to Mt Isa and guiding our Year 9 students as they lead us in celebrating the Feast Day of St Benedict. In addition to this, a highlight of this term has been our three Spirituality Days for Years 5, 6 and 8 students, designed to support the holistic faith formation that lies at the heart of a Lourdes Hill College education.

Through prayer, reflection, and interactive activities, Year 5 students deepened their understanding of what it means to belong to a Good Samaritan school and how the Benedictine values can be lived in everyday life.

Year 6 students participated in Love Thy Neighbour, a retreat experience facilitated by Jo McDade from Retreats by Design. Inspired by the parable of the Good Samaritan and the example of Mary, students reflected on the importance of showing love, respect and compassion to others, and considered practical ways they can be neighbours to those around them.

Our Year 8 students concluded the term with the theme of Compass, led by the Passionist Retreat Team. Through meaningful conversations and shared experiences, students were invited to reflect on the values that guide their choices and relationships, and to recognise the dignity of every person through lives marked by empathy and service.

These Spirituality Days are an integral part of our commitment to educating the whole person. They provide valuable opportunities for students to pause, reflect and grow in faith, ensuring that our Benedictine tradition continues to shape young women who care deeply for others.
